OUR STORY
Nigel and Mary Edkins moved to Ciliau Aeron almost 50 years ago to manage a farm estate with holiday bungalows. They welcomed 2 sons, Gordon and Ben, whilst working and living on the site. They then took on the challenge of running Tyglyn Hotel between 2001 and 2006.

In 2006, they sold the hotel and moved to Coed Farm to focus on farming. The challenge of farming meant that Ben, along with his parents and his wife Meryl, had to diversify into free range egg production in 2015. And so the 'Edkins Eggs' business was born. In 2019 we won the British Free Range Egg 'Producer of the year' award showing our commitment in achieving the highest standards whilst caring for our hens.

Our free-range eggs have been well received in the area by locals, visitors and businesses alike. We proudly supply numerous local restaurants, cafes and shops in Ceredigion with our fresh free range eggs.

In 2023, we went about setting up a self-service egg machine in Aberystwyth. Following the success of this machine, we went on to set up a self-service shop on our farm, with the help of the Cynnal y Cardi Grant. This shop was opened in December 2024 where we could not only sell our fresh free range eggs, but also sell other local produce, such as honey, meat and chutneys. The running of the business is very much a team effort.
